Illinois State Police District 5 announces May activity and enforcement numbers

JOLIET – Capt. Darryl Bogard of the Illinois State Police District 5 announced in a press release Friday the activity and enforcement figures for May 2017.

The district includes Grundy, Kendall and Will Counties. Troopers answered 819 “calls for service” and “initiated 2,492 incidents in the field during the month.”

The month also saw 2,074 citations and 919 written warnings. Those included 1,017 speeding tickets, 40 DUI's, 182 seatbelt citations, 13 child restraint citations, 187 written warnings for speeding and 31 criminal arrests.

Troopers assisted 321 motorists, conducted 338 Motor Carrier Inspections, and investigated 332 traffic crashes. District 5 also recorded two fatal traffic crashes which totaled three fatalities during May.

“In an effort to reduce fatalities, the Illinois State Police uses enforcement activities and educational programs to fight these major contributing factors,” the release stated.
