Foundation accepting grant applications

Julianne Buck

The Community Foundation of Grundy County is accepting grant applications for funding in 2018. Applications are accepted monthly and grants are awarded until this year’s grants budget has been depleted.

Nonprofits who serve – or want to serve – Grundy County are encouraged to apply. We say “or want to serve” purposely because we do have gaps in services here.

If an organization housed outside of Grundy County is interested in providing services not already provided by an existing organization, we are interested in learning more and possibly funding a pilot project.

Other grants in the past have included equipment, such as computers, band instruments, software, and septic systems (our first big grant in Carbon Hill).

We also like to know that our local agencies are operating at their highest capacity. Sometimes that means training, so we have also given grants in the past to organizations to attend conferences and other learning opportunities that they otherwise cannot afford.

All we ask is that you share what you learn.

A brochure explaining what needs to be included in a successful application can be downloaded at https://www.cfgrundycounty.com/not-for-profits-how-to-apply-for-grants/

If you are unsure whether you have a good idea for a grant, you are very welcome to call and talk it through. You can also mail/email a one-page “letter of intent” that we will present to the Grants Committee for review and comment.

If they like your idea, we’ll ask you for a full proposal. This is a great time saver.

Grant applications are due by the fourth Monday of the month: Jan. 22, Feb. 26, March 26, April 23, May 28, June 25, July 23, Aug. 27, Sept. 24, Oct. 22, Nov. 26 and Dec. 24.

Our maximum grant amount is $5,000, but we have given multi-year grants for pilot projects that take time to test and build.

The mission of the Community Foundation of Grundy County is to improve the quality of life through leadership and philanthropy, so if your idea improves the quality of life in Grundy County, we want to hear it.

Please mail or deliver application packets to 520 W. Illinois Ave., Morris, IL 60450. Questions can be directed to 815-941-0852 or julie@cfgrundycounty.com
