No injuries reported in Monday morning I-80 crash

MORRIS — No injuries were reported Monday when the Morris Fire Protection and Ambulance District and Illinois State Police District 5 responded to an accident on Route 80, just east of Morris.

At 7:46 am., District 5 police were called to an accident at mile marker 115, about a mile west of the Brisbin Road exit on eastbound Interstate 80. Illinois State Police Sergeant Matt Wierbzinski said that the initial crash involved two commercial motor vehicles. While the state police were on the scene, there was another crash and other vehicles went into the ditch on the south side of the road due to heavy fog and slowing traffic.

Morris Fire Protection and Ambulance District Chief Tracy Steffes said that his department did not transport anyone from the scene, and that four people refused transport.

Sgt. Wierbzinski said that, as of 3 p.m., a tow truck was still on the scene removing a semi truck from the ditch, but that the road was open for traffic.
