MORRIS – The biggest concern for the Morris Development Review committee when it heard from Chad Both of B&S Firearms on the new rifle range they wanted to build on U.S. 6 was the noise. It was also the one question Both did not have a solid answer for, because he said there is no way for the industry to predict it.
The proposed building at Lakewood and U.S. 6 would include a retail area in front as well as pistol ranges and ranges. Both said it would be one of the first of its kind in the area.
While the committee was receptive to the plan, and would approve it with some conditions, the committee was concerned about the noise. One portion of Both's presentation included a map that showed the planned lights around the property and their intensity. Morris city attorney, Scott Belt, asked if there was some way to have a similar diagram for noise levels.
Both said he did not want any noise, but that there was no technology available to produce a similar diagram for noise because there were too many variables.
