The Minooka seventh-grade baseball team won the Illinois Valley Conference tournament last Saturday by beating Coal City, 7-6, in the semifinals and Channahon, 14-7, in the championship.
In the semifinals, Brady Barrowman knotted the game up at 6 with two outs in the sixth inning on a two-run double. He then drove in Porter Olson on a walk-off base hit in the eighth. Offensively, Drew Calleros had two hits and Barrowman had three. Blake Sustaita, Jaxon Gorman and Joey Jaskowiak combined to pitch for the Indians. Jaskowiak allowed only two hits over the last 4 1/3 innings to earn the win.
Wyatt Wickiser was a beast offensively for Coal City with three hits and two RBIs. Cade Baldauf kept Minooka off-balance for a large portion of the game on the mound and contributed an RBI. Dylan Brown added a sacrifice fly.
In the championship, Barrowman and Carter Lennington had three hits to pace the Minooka offense. Caden Garcia had two hits, including a double. Olson also doubled. Tyler Deluca and Dawson Koehler combined to pitch for Minooka.
For Channahon, which advanced to the title game by defeating Wilmington in the semifinals, Brett Widlowski and Tayden Murphy had two hits apiece, while Max Binzen and A.J. Frescura each had a double.
