Studio Ferro opens design, furnishing business

MORRIS – Studio Ferro had its beginnings in downtown Savannah, Georgia. Anna Ferro and her husband has a second home in the Southern city and Ferro, who is an interior designer by trade, had the chance to open up a shop in town.

For three years, she went back and forth between the her home in Minooka and Savannah to run the shop.

Then the opportunity for a storefront in downtown Morris came up and she moved closer to home. She said her son owns the building and asked her to move into the space.

“This space became available and I moved the shop here,” Ferro said.

The shop is located at 423 Liberty Street.

“It’s a beautiful building,” Ferro said. It used to house a carpet and tile store and upstairs used to be a roller rink, she said.

Not only does the shop provide interior design services, it also has the furnishings in house as well. Furniture from couches to end table to bedroom sets are staged alongside bookcases, lamps and other accoutrements and original artwork.

Move of her stuff still comes through Savannah, Ferro said.

“The furniture comes from all over the world,” she said. “A lot of unusual items come through Savannah.”

Other items are manufactured in the U.S., she said. All of her bedding, she said, is made by a firm out of Chicago.

Ferro said some items in her shop for all price points and budgets. She said she was raised to believe in purchasing quality and taking care of it so it will last.

“My dad is from the old country,” she said. “If he bought something, he bought something good.”

Ferro said she expects the store to attract people from all over.

“We’re within one hours of lots of people looking for quality furniture,” Ferro said.

Studio Ferro is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, by appointment Monday and Tuesday, and is closed Sundays.

There is a grand opening planned for Nov. 10.
