Land Use Committee to recommend solar farm petitions

MORRIS — The Grundy County board Land Use/Animal Control/Facilities board voted to recommend five petitions for solar farms to the Grundy County Board on Wednesday.

Three petitions from Forefront Community Solar and two from OneEnergy for solar farms in the Verona area were all recommended to the board.

The committee also voted to recommend a petition by Rich Scheer to convert land from agricultural to agricultural/residential use.

It was announced that there will be two e-waste recycling events for the county in 2019 and that the events follow the solid waste plan and provide a service to the residents of the county. Also, it was reported that the toy drive was going extremely well.

The facilities committee announced that it has installed three new touchless mechanical paper towel dispensers in the Health Department clinic exam rooms, hung three Veteran’s banners in the board room for the monthly Board meeting, installed snow plowing stakes in the parking lot, installed a frame for the vounty map in the Land Use Directors office, stripped wax on the EMA Dept. restroom floors, set up and removed tables and chairs for Election Day & Tax sale day, inspected snow blowers and snow removal equipment, and put up the large Christmas tree and decorations.

The facilities committee also voted to recommend a proposal by Jeff Eberhard to put a micro food pantry at the Grundy County Administration Building. Crossbridge Community Church will assist in the maintenance of the pantry.

A resolution to appoint committee member Richard Joyce to the Zoning Board of Appeals to replace John Almer will be recommended to the board.
