Ottawa police arrested a Colorado man Friday who fled after he was reported defecating in a Morris park.

According to Morris police, a public works employee spotted Kevin Kearns, 53, Denver, Colo., defecating in the open in the parking lot of Gould Park at about 7:30 a.m. Friday.

When the public works employee confronted Kearns and said he was going to call the police, Kearns pulled away in his vehicle, and when he did he made contact with the public works employee with his vehicle, according to police.

The Grundy County Sheriff's Police located Kearns' vehicle traveling on Interstate 80 westbound. Kearns continued to elude police, until he was eventually stopped by Ottawa police.

Kearns was arrested on complaints of aggravated battery, reckless driving and an ordinance violation for defecation in public. He was taken to Grundy County Jail.
