Christian Youth Center is hosting a day of service from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 4. Students will be able to participate in community Service Projects with Grundy Three-Rivers Habitat for Humanity, Grundy Housing Authority, Narvick House and We Care of Grundy County. Permission slips, necessary for the Habitat for Humanity project, are available at cycmorris.com. The first 75 students to return a permission slip will receive a free T-shirt.
Mother’s Day Celebration
The Village Christian Church would like to invite you to a special Mother’s Day Celebration. We’ll be celebrating all women. Ladies, we want you to know how valued, loved, and beautiful you are. And, most importantly, how much God thinks about you. You have four service times to choose from: Thursday, May 9 at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 12 at 8:30, 9:30 and 11 a.m. There will be fruit kabobs just for the women, a family photo area, and an Edible Arrangement giveaway at all services. • The PADS shelter at Immaculate Conception Parish is open through April. It provides a place to sleep, eat dinner and breakfast, as well as a sack lunch to go. • Organizations from the parish help with preparation and serving of coffee and doughnuts after Mass one weekend each month in the Narthex of the Church. Stop by after Mass and visit while enjoying refreshments.
Feeding the Hungry in The Minooka Area
The Village Christian Church partners with Reclaim3d and Northern Illinois Food Bank to provide 10,000 pounds of food to families that are struggling in our community. If you need help, please come on out to The Village Christian Church, located at 8965 S. Bell Rd, in Minooka on Wednesday, May 29 at 5:30 pm. No registration, proof of income, or ID. is required. The new distribution time starts at 5:30 pm and is first come, first served. It usually wraps up at 6:30 pm, or when the food is all handed out. Bring a box or basket to carry the food. You may go through the line again after everyone has been served if there is food still left. Future dates will be Monday, July 29, Monday, Aug. 26, and the last one will be Monday, Oct. 28. Mother of the Eucharist Perpetual Adoration Chapel is across from the church at 195 South Kankakee Street. The chapel is a place of silent prayer in the presence of Jesus Christ, truly present in the Eucharist. The Eucharist is solemnly exposed for adoration 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
