The 2019 Three Rivers Festival is underway in Channahon. Here are five things you need to know about this year's event:
Location
The 31st Three Rivers Festival began on Wednesday and concludes Sunday. The event is held at Channahon Central Park, 24856 W. Eames Street.
New Events
There are plenty of new additions to the fest, including a softball tournament Thursday night, a Zumba class Saturday afternoon and magic and live reptile shows Sunday afternoon.
Parade
The parade will be held Sunday at noon, rain or shine. It will start at the corner of Fryer and Bridge streets and will march on down to Canal street. Channahon Police Department Chief Shane Casey and Channahon Fire Protection District Chief John Petrakis will be the Parade Grand Marshals.
Carvinal
Carnival Rides will be available Thursday 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., Friday 6 p.m. to 12 a.m., Saturday 1 p.m. to 12 a.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Music
This year’s musical acts will include Calistra Plodzien, Madison Grace Menchaca, Jordan Willner and Adam Rociles.
The festival also has a program in place to give back to the community.
Channahon’s Three Rivers Festival helps facilitate community-based activities and services through an annual financial support program. Organizations apply for funding to create, expand, or develop programs, services and activities that directly benefit Channahon area residents. That funding is derived from Three Rivers Festival proceeds.
Visitors can also enjoy the beer garden unti l11 p.m. Thursday, midnight Friday and SAturday, and 7 p.m. on Sunday.
The ExxonMobil Kidz Zone will be open Saturday from noon to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m., featuring a 9 Hole Mini Golf course, face painting, inflatable, sand art, and a petting zoo.
