Many folks occasionally have trouble hearing something and wonder if they should have their hearing checked.
The Morris Lions Club, in conjunction with the Lions Foundation of Illinois, has a free solution for area residents. On Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Lions Mobile Hearing Screening Service Unit will be at the Grundy County Administration Center at 1320 Union St. in Morris to provide free hearing screenings for those 10 years and older with no appointments necessary.
The earlier hearing loss is detected, the better the chances for successful treatment. While this screening is not a substitute for seeing an audiologist, it does help identify those who might benefit from scheduling such an appointment.
The Lions Clubs worldwide try to aid those with vision and hearing issues and provide hearing and vision screenings free of charge to help people know if they should seek out services. The Hearing Screening Service was brought to town for Corn Festival two years ago.
This year the Hearing Screening Unit will be working with We Care of Grundy County and the Grundy County Health Department to encourage residents to come to the screening.
