The Grundy County Land Use Department will be having a used latex and oil based paint recycling event on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Grundy County Animal Control Facility back parking lot located at 310 East DuPont Road off Lynn Road in Morris
The department will be partnering once again with EPaints, who will recycling the paint into useable paint.
Paint must be in its original container with its original label and must be non-leaking and covered with a lid. No aerosol cans will be accepted.
Recycling charges for latex paints and stains are $1 per quart, $5 per gallon and $10 for five gallons. For oil based paints/stains charges are $4 per quart, $8 per gallon, and $20 per five gallons.
EPaint has processed over one million cans and recycled thousands of gallons of paint.
Paints are mixed with similar types of paints to produce a paint product that is tinted for use. This paint has good coverage and cost half as much as traditional paints.
Paint is currently being sold at Habitat for Humanity Restore locations and other hardware retailers.
EPaint is able to recycle 98% of the paint collected and also ensures that the cans are recycled, and is the first recycler in the country to be able to recycle oil based paints.
Questions on the event can be directed to Grundy County Land Use Director Heidi Miller at 815-941-3229, or emailed to email@example.com.
