Other people come to the parade to support their loved ones who participate in the event itself. Parade entries ranged from schools, to dance academies, to small, local businesses. Michael Kostbade is among those because his family has participated in the event for years.
“We started coming to Corn Festival, and the parade, 11 years ago when my son was entered into the annual baby show and photo contest,” said Kostbade. “My daughter used to be in the parade for Donna Mueller’s School of Dance and now, my son is in the Coal City Middle School marching band. My wife helps in the band too, giving the kids water as they march. I also have a nephew who’s in the Minooka marching band.”
