Community Nutrition Network Senior Services Association (CNNSSA) provides nutritious meal opportunities through three (3) programs for seniors age 60 and over
1. Home Delivered Meals (“Meals on Wheels”) delivers hot lunchtime meals five (5) days a week to homebound seniors throughout Grundy County. This helps seniors remain independent in their homes. Our volunteer drivers also conduct daily wellness checks and provide friendly interaction.
2. Community Café Dining Meals are served at lunchtime throughout the month at Saratoga Tower in Morris, Minooka City Hall, Mazon American Legion, and Coal City Lions Club. Specific dates and locations are listed on our monthly calendar. The suggested donation per diner ranges from $3.50 to $6.00 depending on the day. In addition to meals, the Cafes also offer games, exercise classes, special parties, monthly educational/resource speakers, health screenings, and trips.
3. The Great Plates Program is a meal voucher program. Vouchers can be purchased for $6 each at Saratoga Tower and then used to dine from a special menu at R-Place Family Eatery in Morris and The Whistlestop Café in Diamond.
Drivers are desperately needed for our Coal City and Gardner routes for a few hours midday. First, drivers go to Saratoga Tower to pick up meals, then deliver meals to the seniors, chat for a bit, and provide a wellness check. We accept volunteer drivers for as little as one day a month, but prefer more shifts per month.
