How Morris Downtown Development is a Community Partner

SPONSORED

When many think of the Morris Downtown Development Partnership (MDDP), they often think of the events they bring to downtown Morris.  Locals and visitors alike enjoy their downtown festivals, sporting events, and holiday celebrations.  These events provide activities for local residents as well an opportunity to showcase downtown Morris to those who visit from outside of the area.

Although the MDDP promotes all downtown events, they specifically coordinate the Liberty 5k Run/Walk on July 3, the Liberty Arts Festival on July 19-21, and Home for the Holidays on November 23-25.  These events would not be possible without the support of numerous sponsors and volunteers.

In addition to events, the MDDP has other initiatives to support their mission to preserve, enhance, and promote downtown Morris.  Their historical initiatives include overseeing the Heritage Home Program and a downtown walking tour of historic buildings.

Marketing initiatives include maintaining their website (www.downtownmorris.com) and social media presence, creating and distributing rack cards that promote downtown events, and promoting downtown shops and restaurants through a tri-fold map.  Additionally, the MDDP coordinated the efforts to bring a large directional sign to Route 47 and Washington streets.

The MDDP has also addressed physical improvements by maintaining the downtown planter program, and providing design guidelines for facade remodeling.

Those interested in volunteering or supporting the Morris Downtown Development Partnership, Inc. are encouraged to call the office at 815-941-0245 or e-mail them at mddp@downtownmorris.com.
